Peter H. Spooner, MD

“What I love most about medicine is developing relationships with my patients and their families. The mix of the art of medicine (treatments that are tailored to the individual) and the science of medicine (tests and treatments based on the best scientific evidence) keeps me passionate about what I do. Heart disease and stroke are so prevalent that almost all Americans will be directly affected themselves or by the illness of a loved one. Making a difference in preventing cardiac disease and stroke, that’s what it is all about!

My interests are in the common cardiac conditions, congestive heart failure, and coronary artery disease and in prevention particularly with the elderly.

I am board certified with the American College of Cardiology. As a member of the board of directors of the American Heart Association from 2013-2014; I am at work in the greater community to raise awareness about cardiac disease and stroke prevention. Contributing to our community by growing research funding for Arizona scientists and physicians to find new treatments for these conditions is a great reward.

Outside of medicine I love the outdoors and try to get outside with my family and friends as much as possible. An avid reader, I am always looking for the next great book, so share your great reads!”
